So, after all the predictions and throwing around of words like "Tour Guide" and "Maxx c" It came down to two cards; one we needed as a lower/cheaper print and one nobody wants.. "Effect Veiler" and "The Winged Dragon of Ra". Now we all know what veiler means to the game an a reprint helps those who don't have the money to shell out for the once $15 rare or higher ultra/ulti. So, to all those who were hoping for better, oh well! Guess we have to pull our collective jaws up off the floor and hope for a better annoucement for one of 4 products; duelist tin 2012, Gold series 5, or the waves of fall tins. Til the next disappointment konami!

Now, for the post-mortem. This, in my own opinion is a horrible special edition. There are plenty of cards that needed a reprint before the 3rd print of veiler or the first reprint of a card nobody uses.We "absolutely" needed Zero..or a bulb to brighten our days..but alas, we get literal junk or at least cards that may/not really have an impact when the banned list hits in just 6 weeks!! Well, time for some much needed sleep!

So, when we all went crazy this past summer about the last turbo pack, DAD was the Ulti and Sangan was getting an upgrade Ultra and was going to start jumping in price because of the old tour guide and xyz summing/detaching rulinh.. but alas these good times weren't meant to last..

There we have it! I personally love the reprint of some of the older cards; serpent night dragon and seiyaryu. They are just some old vanilla monsters due for a reprint. Now, im pretty sure everyone is saying, "Where is Tour Guide, Zenmaines or Rabbit?" Well, guess what people, they're not getting reprints THIS soon..look for them to (at earliest) be in the tins of 2012 . SO, for my personal thoughts.. out of the four supers.. typically one gets hit on every banned list..but I just don't see it happening.. nothing is that "broke" nor was it in such high demand in a lower rarity.. I COULD see book of moon getting bumped from 1 -> 2 or 3. Catastor getting a reprint also opens the door to speculation of other higher demand synchros getting the reprint bug.. Brionac, Trish, scrap dragon..so on and so forth.

So, I open my comments to you, the readers.. What do you think of the newest batch of cossy tounrament promos?? They are obviiously nopthing like the older TU packs..but I'm sure the boo-birds will arise on the about how book has its second foily reprint (CP01-en002). Lets hear it fellow duelists! Card of the Week : Rescue Rabbit!

Hello fellow YUGINEWZ readers! Ayane here with another Card of the Week. This week I am going to be bringing you a card that has seen heavy play since it came out. This card also brings back fond memories of a certain little cat. This week we have RESCUE RABBIT.

Level 4 Beast/Effect 300ATK/100DEF

This card cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. You can banish this face-up card you control; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Normal Monsters with the same name from your Deck. Destroy them during the End Phase. The effect of "Rescue Rabbit" can only be activated once per turn. "

The effect really stands out doesn't it? This card can not be special summoned from the deck. So then how would we get it you ask? There is a few ways. The first way is draw power. If you can get it in your hand by draw power, you will be fine. You can always use Sangan to bring it to your hand. You can Foolish Burial it and then Monster Reincarnation. (That would be a round about way of it) All in all, there are many different ways you can get this card to your hand.

You can banish this face-up card you control: special summon two Normal Monsters with the same name from your deck. There are tons of normal monsters on which you can use this effect for. The most common in the deck are 3x Sabersaurus and 3x Kabazauls. These cards are consistent with the Dino Deck that is being played.

Destroy them during the End Phase. This can be avoided in two main ways. You can find a way to Synchro Summon with them, or you can XYZ Summon with them. This deck mainly XYZ Summons for Rank 4 monsters. These monsters mainly include Steelswarm Roach, Number 39: Utopia, Evolsaur Laggia and Evolsaur Dolkka

The effect of Rescue Rabbit is an ignition effect, and removing it from play is an activation cost for its' effect.

To stop the Rabbit is a trick. There is Bottomless Trap Hole to remove 1500 or higher attack monsters. There is Trap Hole to destroy 1000 or higher attack monsters. The only main trap that is played that would stop this would be Solemn Warning. However you can always Bottomless Trap Hole the Normal Monsters when they Special Summon from the deck.

This card has swept the meta and still remains a money card with Yu-Gi-Oh! At it's peak it was almost 600 dollars for a playset. Now it remains between 65-85 dollars for a single Rescue Rabbit. Will this card continue to dominate the meta?

Well, first off I'd like to thank the staff at Yuginewz for letting me voice my opinions and observations through their site. I would like to introduce myself to old and new readers alike. I am a duelist and a U.S. player writing to you from my nook in Chicago, Illinois. Hopefully through my articles and the opinions of others we can help fellow players find new and innovative startegies to blow up the dueling lanscape! So, without further adew.. let's start discussing the newest topic; An introspective look into the YCS Meta scene domestically and abroad.

First off I'd like to take a look (retrospectively) at the past season of YCS action In the U.S. Let's wind the clocks back to February of this year.. YCS Dallas is the setting for the newly crowned king of the ring: Legendary Six Samurai: Shi En. Three of the top four duelist piloted these contenders to victory..taking clear advantage of new synchros and gateway of the six being played in triplicates until March 1st. This is also where we finally see the end of an era; blackwings. It is also the First time we see Billy Brake in 2011 crack the top 16, just narrowly missing a top 8 finish with his six samurai variation. Also, someone who basically topped or placed high in almost every mid-western YCS this year.

The basic kageki into kagemusha was every duelist opening hand..and if you had at least one gateway and one smoke signal/ROTA you were pretty much paving the way for a turn 2, second shi en or Great shogun shien..devastating your opponent os much so that they would either flip the top card or just scoop on the spot, side and hope for better luck in game 2.

The format changed radically on March 1st. Quickly abolishing goyo gaurdian and cold wave. It also destroyed everyones favorite frog combo with mass driver.. thus began a rebuilding process.. samurais got hit hard with gateway going from 3 to 1. With a YCS happening almost every month, duelists were on their toes trying new startegies..samurais were dead..right?

When the YCS in North Carolina took place in early march..very few people expected a samurai deck to top, but Shi En proved everyone worng and it was the first time that there was so much variance at the top of the YCS ladder.. four very different decks placed in the top four.. as eluded to earlier Samurais took 1st..but what was surprising is what followed it up; a fish deck, deck destruction and X-sabers piloted by Billy Brake. It seemed like a confsuiong time where almost anything had a chance to contend..but by the time April rolled around we had a world wide spotlight on yu-gi-oh..two very crucial and very different YCS events taking place. This is where the two roads meet.. YCS Paris and YCS Anaheim.

The two tournaments ran quite smoothly with a very similar showing, but with some major differneces at the top.. starting with the champs all the way down the top four.. one one hand we have the hyped "KMP" (karakuri/machina/plant) deck in Paris pretty much shredding through its competition and then the slower, more stratically played gemini/light dual deck. Dont get me wrong, both decks were amazing thoughts and did very well in their repsective tournaments.. but both proved that a saying more relevant to sports that a childrens card game; on any given day, anyone can win.

Now, let's skip ahead a few months.. entenched deep into the summer (or winter).. this was definitely one for the ages for YGO TCG players..two sets of tins that killed the set Duelist revolution and gave less fortunate players a chance to stop "proxying" cards and get their hands on cards like Pot of duality and Solemn Warning; two tremendous stales in todays meta. We also got an early present in the form of a TCG exclusive in Extreme victory that turned the tide of Dueling up until about 2 weeks ago; of course I'm talking about that mysterious woman in the blue jacket.; Tour Guide form the Underworld. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it goes a little this:

This card is amazing..It is nearly splashable into any deck that runs Dark or light monsters and let's you immeadiately search for another one OR that all important fuzz ball..Sangan! I do believe that Reborn Tengu gets an honorable mention as well, it is after all just a pricey sneak peak card.

It wasn't until we came accross decks being played in the lone Cnadien YCS in Toronto that we saw the surge of players, including eventual champion BIlly Brake(who also ends up taking YCS columbus a few weeks later) running a card that was featured on our site earlier this week: none other than the Amazing Maxx "C"..simply put when your opponent decides to special summon or swarm the field to make that game ending push, you can drop this little menace and they have one of two options; continue to special summon and make their big move and give you severe hand advantage..or stop what they were going to do, set a few backrows and pass. Either way, you usually buy yourself a turn, same could be said about Effect veiler.

Now as we continue to look forward, let's jump ahead to YCS Kansas City. This was one of those YCS's that had some people scratching their heads, myself included. Rescue Rabbit had just hit shelves and the mind melters and deck wielders were already making the bold predictions abuot how this deck would fair..contending with the likes of Synchronetic (formally plant/tengu synchro, just faster), Chaos Agents (basic Agents build with Tour guide splashed in along with BLS), Darkworlds and rogue Gemini/Hero builds. It was the hype of the mid-west YCS and had high expectations that just didnt quite pan out this time. While Dino Rabbits took 5th-7th and a lower 26th rank, this deck was clearly on the upper eschalon, but seemed to run out of gas just before the end. This is in stark comparison to the YCS accross the pond that took place just last week and had its top 16 invaded by dino rabbits..in fact exactly half of the top were filled with playsets of rabbits and extra deck bellowing with Evolzar laggia and Dolkka, as well as Leviair the sea dragon. this deck WAS going to dominate..just a matter of time.

So, what changed? In November not a single dino build made the top four and in Brighton It take three of the top four and 5 more places between 4th and 16th.. Well, lets take a look at some of the main deck choices for some contrast; for the best results, let's observe the winning deck from Brighton and the 4th place finish at Kansas city, oth extreme different builds and very effective against certain decks. The major glaring difference I noticed was that the KC build has a single effect veiler and BLS.. while its english counterpart has elected to go a single Neo spacian grand mole and 3 jurrac guaiba. what's interesting about this is that the jurrac monster is able to search another of itself out via destrustion of an opponents monster through battle.

This allows for easy XZYing into Laggia and Dolkka.

Now more notable is the side deck options that each player made;
The KC duelist chose to main deck his 2 thunder king rai-oh's and only play one Maxx "C".. if you compare the two side decks as follows:
2 Cyber Dragon- great choice against swarming.2 D.D. Crow- Useful only against targeting cards in the graveyard.
2 Leeching the Light- two possible matches here it can help; Gemini/light beat or Chaos Agents3 Dimensional Fissure-Send it to the graveyard, not anymore you don't! Always a nice tech.
1 Closed Forest- Now here's one I scratch my head on.. help me if you can! (sUn: DW hate.)
2 Bottomless Trap Hole- Always a solid choice in my opinion, plus it's a 2-for against rabbit!2 Fiendish Chain- In a vanilla heavy deck, why not?1 Compulsory Evacuation Device- I synchro for startdust..no you didn't, poof..gone!

And now for our zealous friend over the pond;
2 Cyber Dragon- Still a great choice, not much else to say.
2 Dimensional Fissure- It's still not in your graveyard..go fish!
2 Fiendish Chain- Vanillas do not fear the reaper..or the chain of rthat matter!
2 Fossil Dyna- Awesome choice, espcially during Rabbit season, careful for Road!
1 Heavy Storm- Again, great defensive card, watch out for starlight road.
1 Mystical Space Typhoon- you can never have too much typhoon..up to 3!
2 Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror- I would feel this a bit too situational, but he won. Can't argue!
1 Spirit Reaper- Ah, a great tech card. you can stall or piece your opponents hand.
2 Thunder King Rai-Oh- I love this card, but in certain decks its best seving you in the side deck space.. I honestly feel this is where the duelist from KC may have misqued.

So, there you have it.. a little look into the early part of this year as well as what we encountered at the end..literally! Now as we prepare for Order of Chaos and the Inzektors, one can only think; Were dino rabbits just a flash in the pan or will the malicious insects eat away at the landscape? Card of the Week : Maxx "C"

This meta has exploded! With Royal Oppression not available for us to use anymore, there is nothing to stop a deck from special summoning. If we can not stop someone from special summoning, let's bonus from it.

Maxx "C"
Level 2 Earth/Insect Effect Monster

You can activate this effect during either player's turn by sending this card from your hand to the Graveyard. This turn, each time your opponent Special Summon a monster(s), draw 1 card. You can only activate "Maxx "C"" once per turn.

This card has proved itself over and over again. Just from reading the text above you should already know what would be the best uses for this card. Just in case let me break it down for you.

Decks to use this card against are any decks that do major special summoning. These decks include Chaos, Agents, Plants, Rabbit, Infernities, Dark World, Karakuri, Blackwing, and the Synchro/XYZ variant decks. You could use this card while you are in a bind to gain that ever needed hand control. The use for this card is also to gain that hand control when you have lost the field control.

I do not suggest to use this card in the main deck of every deck, however this as a side deck card is a must have. There are bad match ups with the occasional anti-meta or burn decks where this card will not be proactive.

The two main cards that would stop the drop of Maxx "C" are Debunk and Herald of Orange Light. Debunk is a trap card, and though not heavily played it is very effective. Herald of Orange Light has become a staple card in the side decks of Fairies.

Again, this card does not stop your opponent from special summoning but it gives them the option to continue or not. If they choose to not continue their special summoning you still plus on that turn.

In June, the Lost Sanctuary Structure Deck gave Duelists the forces of the heavens to command. Now, in this diabolical companion deck, Duelists can match tem with the forces of perdition! The Dark World monsters are the fearsome warlords and armies of the underworld. First debuting in 2005, they've lurked on the edges of the tournament scene ever since. Xyz Materials

Monsters that are used to Xyz Summon are called “Xyz Materials”, and
are placed underneath the Xyz Monster, to show that they are
attached to it. Monsters that have become Xyz Materials are not
treated as cards on the field. When an Xyz Monster leaves the field,
all of the Xyz Materials attached to it are sent to the Graveyard. If an
Xyz Monster is flipped face-down, or becomes controlled by the
opponent, the Xyz Materials are not sent to the Graveyard. They
remain attached to the Xyz Monster.

Leaves the Field

Some monsters have effects that activate when they “leave the field”.
For example, these effects activate when the monster is sent to the

The newest kind of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG monsters are here! And they’ve come from DEEP SPACE!

Xyz Monsters are made from anti-matter, and have traveled here from the other side of a black hole. They’re landing in Duels at the speed of light, ready to kick butt and take names.

What’s an Xyz Monster?

First things first: It’s pronounced ik-seez. (You say it like a word. Don’t just spell out the letters!)

Xyz Monsters get their name because they’re so easy to Summon. You can make Xyz Monsters from anything: any monster Type, any Attribute, any theme. You can make monsters that look like giant toys, or fearsome dragons, or even monsters that are made of numbers. You can make them out of anything, even the letters x, y, and z.

Since they’ve traveled through a black hole to enter our universe, Xyz Monsters live in Reverse Time, so they do lots of things backwards:

Xyz Monsters are pitch-black.
The letters on them are bright white.
They have a Rank instead of a Level (with yellow & black stars, instead of yellow & red)
Their stars are on the left instead of the right.

But the weirdest thing of all is that whenever you Summon an Xyz Monster, the stuff you used to make it sort of sticks around!

How to Xyz Summon

If you want to Xyz Summon, you need some face-up monsters on the field with the same level. You’ll also need an Xyz Monster in your Extra Deck that fits that Level. (Example: If you’re using 2 Level 4 monsters as your Xyz Material, you need an Xyz Monster that lists “2 Level 4 monsters” as the materials.)

When you’re ready to Xyz Summon, just take the Xyz Material monsters and pile them up on the field. Then take the matching Xyz Monster you’re Summoning out of your Extra Deck, and Summon it. Then place the pile of Xyz Materials underneath it.

That’s right: The Xyz Materials go UNDERNEATH the Xyz Monster. Then you can use them to pay costs for Xyz Monster effects, or to activate special Spell and Trap Cards that only work for Xyz Monsters!

Whenever you use an Xyz Material to pay a cost, or activate an Xyz Monster’s ability, the card will tell you to “detach” 1 Xyz Material. That means you take one of the Xyz Materials you stacked up under your Xyz Monster, and send it to the Graveyard.

Twin Terrors of Destruction

Two of the most powerful Xyz Monsters in Generation Force are the twins of good and evil: Tiras, Keeper of Genesis and Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon.

Tiras cannot be destroyed by card effects for the 2 turns after it’s Summoned. Tiras also automatically destroys 1 extra card each turn it battles. Adreus’ effect is similar, but faster: each turn you can instantly detach 1 Xyz Material from Adreus to destroy any of your opponent’s cards!

Both of these Xyz Monsters have 2600 Attack Points, are Rank 5, and require 2 Level 5 monsters to Summon. Since you can use ANY monster to Summon them, it’s easy to do! You can use Level 5 monsters you already have, like Cyber Dragon, Quickdraw Synchron, or Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, or try the brand new Ghost Ship card from Generation Force. Take a look through your collection and see what other Level 5’s you might have. You’ll be surprised how many of them are easy to Summon!

Xyz Summoning Tricks

Generation Force is packed with new cards that make it easy for you to Xyz Summon. Wind-Up Soldier and Wind-Up Dog can both change their Levels to Level 5 once they’re on the field. This makes it easy to get 2 Level 5’s, so you can Summon Tiras or Adreus.

This combo gets even faster if you use other Wind-Up cards like Wind-Up Magician and Wind-Up Factory to get exactly the right Wind-Up monsters you need out of your Deck – fast!

With Wind-Up Magician, when you use the Level-modifying power of your Wind-Up Soldier or Wind-Up Dog, you can Summon another one from your Deck. Then use its power, and you instantly have 2 Level 5 monsters on the field. Tiras or Adreus – incoming!

Another shortcut is Gagaga Magician. This monster can instantly change its Level to whatever Level you need, from 1 to 8! If you have Gagaga Magician and any other monster, just match Gagaga’s Level to the other monster and Xyz Summon any monster of that same Rank.

Resonance Device is a Spell Card that works the same way. Just use this handy card and 2 of your monsters will have matching Levels the rest of the turn. Another easy Xyz Summon!

Aquatic Onslaught

Generation Force has OVER TWENTY new cards for Fish, Sea Serpent, and Aqua-Type monsters. You can combine them into a cool new theme Deck, or use just a few of them in other Decks for their incredible combo power.

Lots of these new monsters banish themselves after they attack. Then they come back during your next Standby Phase. This means they’re not around to protect you during your opponent’s turn, but it also makes them safe from harm, so it will be hard for your opponent to destroy them.

As your Fish (and their friends) are banished from the game, they also work like fish food to fuel your other cards:

Fish out your copies of Deep Sea Diva, because she’s in for the performance of her life! This monster from Raging Battle is really useful for Xyz Summoning, because she can Summon a matching-Level monster when you play her. But now your Diva can also Summon Lost Blue Breaker, a Level 3 Sea Serpent that you can Tribute to destroy any Spell/Trap on the field.

No Tuner? No Problem!

White Synchro Monsters and Black Xyz Monsters are opposites of each other. But they both work perfectly in combination. Instead of using just one or the other, your best strategy is to play with BOTH in your Extra Deck.

That way, all your bases are covered. If you get your Tuners into play and want to Synchro Summon, you can do that. But if the Tuners aren’t showing up, you can Xyz Summon instead!

If you plan to keep Synchros in your Extra Deck though, watch out for trouble. One danger is Steelswarm Roach. This Rank 4 Xyz Monster can negate the Special Summon of any Level 5 or higher monster, whether it’s a Fusion, Synchro, or anything else. But since Xyz Monsters don’t have a Level, they’re immune to Steelswarm Roach’s power.

Synchro Monsters also have a traitor in their midst! Their biggest enemy might be a Synchro Monster itself: the treacherous Orient Dragon.

Team HERO on Parade

1. "Remove from play" is now "Banish"

Old:

2. "Is removed from the field" is now "Leaves the field"

When this card is removed from the field, Special Summon 1 “Reborn Tengu” from your Deck.
New:
When this card leaves the field, Special Summon 1 “Reborn Tengu” from your Deck.

3. "Piercing Battle Damage"

Old:
During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.
New:
If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing Battle Damage to your opponent.

4. "Selected as an attack target" is now "targeted for an attack"

Old:
Your opponent cannot select another face-up Warrior-Type monster as an attack target.
New:
Your opponent cannot target face-up Warrior-Type monsters for attacks, except this one.

5. "Hero monsters are now HERO monsters" (finally!)

I’m sending you this email to alert you to an important change in the latest version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Official Rulebook, which is included with the Structure Deck: Dragunity Legion.
The current version is listed as Version 7.2, you can find the version number on the lower right corner of the Rulebook cover.
On page 43 in the “Other Rules” section, the following clarification has been made:
· “ 0 ATK monsters

Monsters with 0 ATK cannot destroy anything by battle. If two Attack Position monsters with 0 ATK battle each other, neither monster is destroyed.”
This may result in some confusion for your players, so please do your part to pass this information along. Not many people carefully read through the Rulebook, so many judges and players are likely to be unaware of the change.

New Public Event - RETRO DRAFT!

Retro Draft is one of the new Public Events that’ll start cropping up at events this year. It’s really easy to play, because all you need is 3 packs of the latest Retro Pack for each player! (Retro Pack 2) Retro Draft is an 8-player event, but you can play it with more or less players if you want to. If you play with more, break the players up into as many equal groups of 8 players or fewer that you can. Here’s how it works:

* Sit each group of players down around a table with their 3 Booster Packs.
* After everyone is seated, everyone opens up one of the Booster Packs, chooses 1 card for their Deck, and passes the rest of them to the player to their left.
* Repeat until every player has 9 cards for their Deck.
* Then, open the next pack and repeat the process, except this time, pass the cards that aren’t chosen to the player on your right.
* After every player has 18 cards for their Deck, open the final Booster Pack and do the exact same thing as you did with the first one.

Once all the cards have been chosen, each player needs to use the cards they picked to make a 20-card minimum Deck. Cards that go in your Extra Deck don’t count towards the 20 cards. Other than needing at least 20 cards in your Main Deck, there ARE NO RULES! There are no Forbidden or Limited or Semi-Limited Cards, and if you choose more than 3 copies of a single

card you can play them ALL. It’s going to lead to some really exciting Duels today! Once everyone has their Deck ready, all the cards they didn’t include become the Side Deck, and its time to shuffle up and Duel.

Here are some tips for when you decide to Retro Draft with your friends. These all apply if you’re using Retro Pack 2.

* The entire Destiny Board set is in here. The Spirit Message cards are commons and are likely to get picked last, so if you wind up with the I, N, A, and L and see a Destiny Board floating around, take it, because…
* There aren’t many cards that can destroy Spells or Traps. Grab every Dust Tornado you see, just in case, and watch out for Jinzo!
* Don’t neglect monsters! You can grab all the kick-butt Spell and Trap Cards you want, but if you don’t have any monsters you probably won’t win… unless you have the Destiny Board set at the ready!
* There are a lot of cards that can take care of monsters, but also a lot of cards that can revive monsters. Premature Burial and Call of the Haunted are both available.
* Gilasaurus is very valuable here. Even if your opponent gets to Summon a monster, if you can Tribute Gilasaurus for something better you can quickly sweep your opponents monster out of the way.
* Yata-Garasu exists, is a common, and is very upset at being Forbidden for all these years. Look out!
